AEK 2-0 Lamia

The improvement in fortunes under Kostenglou has continued with another 3 points following today’s win over Lamia, a win which brings us up to 5th place with 6 points (Olympiakos, PAOK, and Xanthi are all 3 for 3 so far).

Truth be told, it wasn’t a phenomenal game by any means, but it sounds like we did enough to control the match and make a couple of our chances count. From what I could make out on the radio, it seemed like though we managed to control the game for the most part, it was making any meaningful gain’s into Lamia’s box which we struggled with. Livaja stepped up when needed though, as he did last week, and was involved with both of our goals scored today (the first was a pass from Livaja which resulted in an own goal while the second was a Livaja free kick slotted into the net by Vranjes).

All in all a critical 3 points as we prepare for our critical test against PAOK in a couple week’s time. Before that though, we face Panaitolikos in Agrinio, a match which we really shouldn’t struggle with considering Panaitolikos currently sit second from last, one 0 points.

Progress on the stadium is continuing at a steady rate. This video shows some great aerial views over the stadium at sunrise this morning:

  1. Did you catch the PAOK game on Sunday? The box score says they got a penalty goal at 90+11 to tie the game. Seems really fishy.

Hahaha ah yes, I remember seeing a photoshopped image of a fourth official from the game holding up the board which says how much extra time to play, except instead of showing the time, it said “however long it take for PAOK to score a goal”… fishy for sure!

  2. Alex, haven’t seen you post in a while. Just wondered if you are doing well.

Hey! I’m doing well, thanks for reaching out. How are things with you? No posts recently, I haven’t been following the games as actively this season aside from following the scores and occasionally listening to them on the radio. I’ll get a recap post up this weekend leading up to the playoffs though.

I’m hoping we keep Carrera as coach for next year and provide him with some solid players to make a good championship post!

Hey, just saw this! Hope you are doing well amidst all the coronavirus ongoings. I am guessing they are canceling the rest of the season? Hard to know.

      • Thankfully Im doing alright, Im able to work from home these days which has been a relief. How about you, everything alright on your end? I can’t wait until we can get back to some type of normal, I miss watching football every weekend! Regarding the season, Im hearing some talk of games starting back up again in May (likely without fans), though I imagine its still too early for anything to be confirmed. Would be good if the season could be finished since we have a decent shot at 2nd place following the points deductions to PAOK!
