Larissa 0-1 AEK

Late getting this post up, but its a game worth mentioning. Going by reports I read online, it was yet another somewhat dissapointing performance from our players, though at least we managed to come away with a win from one of our tougher matches of the playoffs. Our only goal of the match was scored by Platellas in the 42nd minute, and its one worth watching:

I’m curious, would anyone know why Larissa is now playing in Aklazar and not their new stadium?

Statistics of the match paint a rather different picture from the one we saw at our last match. Possesion was only just in our favour, at 51%, while we were actually considerably outshot by Larissa (Larissa managed 11 shots while we only got 5). Certainly an important three points, but some players are going to have to start improving their game if they want any chance of being part of the team next season.

After the win in Larissa, we currently sit in first place with 19 points, while Iraklis arent too far behind in second with 16 points.

Also worth mentioning is that we made a signing recently, picking up Brazillian right back Rodrigo Galo. I’ve personally not seen him play, but from what I’ve been reading it seems like a decent transfer. The video below shows some highlights from his career until now.

RB was a problem position, so I think this is a good signing on the cheap.

About the game, Anestis had a great performance in goal. Barbosa was decent until his injury, and overall it was a gritty display. 4 more points and we’re there!

If I am reading the table right, we need to get to 26 points to outright clinch advancement, so that is at least 2 wins and a tie out of the last 6 games. That’s also assuming Larissa wins out. We’re in great shape, though I’d love to win the playoff too.

I remember hearing about the Larisa stadium on the radio but dont remember what exactly. I dont remember whether they couldnt afford the taxes, it was something financial i think.

Regarding yesterday’s basketball game, unfortunately we are out of further playing. The game was interrupted by fans but of course the other teams never get punished, its only AEK that gets punished. That game should have ended just like our game ended against Olympiakos. As far as i recall, our basketball fans did not cause any issues at OAKA this year, too bad i cant say that about the animals that support Aris, http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_articles_wsite5_1_19/05/2015_550195

Btw, our game just started, looks like a nice sunny evening at OAKA, but not too many fans in the stands which is unfortunate. Wish i was there!!

  6. 👍 We won 1-0 and smirnis lost their game so we are now 15 points ahead with 5 games left. We can celebrate on sunday. 😎
