Donis Confirmed as New AEK Gaffer

Shortly after yesterday’s match, AEK confirmed that Giorgos Donis had been been lured away from Larissa and hired by the yellow and black.  Full press coverage here including news of a similar coaching shake-up at rivals Panathinaikos.

As a player, Donis played for Panathinaikos and Blackburn as well as AEK.  In a very short period of time, the Greek coach has built up and impressive run of results, first guiding then-fourth division Ilisiakos FC to back to back promotions and then taking Larissa from the second division into the Super League, winning the Greek Cup by defeating heavily favored Panathinaikos and then upsetting Blackburn of the EPL in the first round of the 2007-08 UEFA Cup.
