Greek Cup: Panathinaikos and Asteras Tripolis Join AEK

I try to keep it clean, and mature, on this blog, but sometimes a callow quip just sums it up best, don’t you think? Well, here goes:

Somebody’s ass hurts this morning.

I have a lot of friends who support Panathinaikos, so I am not about to engage in any schadenfreude here, but it’s an odd result coming just days after a 1-1 draw between the same teams where they looked evenly matched (I watched the 1-1 draw over the weekend but missed yesterday’s blow-out).

Asteras Tripolis stumbled out of the Greek Cup as well yesterday, losing to ten man Atromitos.  We face Atromitos Saturday, and, as I noted yesterday, we will be without at least three key players.  Given Atromitos’s current form, we could be in for one hell of a tough match.
